“THCa Flower” is the name given to cannabis buds that have high levels of THCa, which is the primary active component of any type of marijuana buds, but with levels of Delta-9 THC under .3%.  The 2018 US Farm Bill and NC SB-455 both use the .3% level as the line beyond which a cannabis product is considered marijuana and not hemp.  THCa can be thought of as “latent Delta-9 THC” because it converts to Delta-9 THC after being heated.  This is true for marijuana buds as well.  Marijuana flower typically has about 2-3% Delta 9-THC with the remainder of its Delta-9 THC also in the latent form of THCa.  That’s the only difference.  In both cases, the majority of the plant’s Delta-9 THC is in the form of THCa prior to heating.

Delta-9 THC, or “D9”, is what we meant when we simply said “THC” before most of the world knew there was more than one kind of THC.  It is the part of a marijuana plant that is responsible for its psychoactive effect.  The majority of marijuana’s D9 THC is in the latent form of THCa until it is heated.  There are many other products available that contain Delta-9 THC: gummies, chocolates, vapes, sodas, patches, you name it.  In states like North Carolina, no product may contain more than .3% D9 THC by weight.  This means that a gummy weighing 5 grams may contain no more than 14.9mg D9 THC at the very most. 

 

 

At the moment, the only firm rule we have in this space is that no product can contain more than .3% Delta 9 THC, and all the products in our store are compliant with that rule. So, the answer is yes.  All of our products are legal in North Carolina per NC SB-455.

The majority of our flower comes from California, as that is the state that still produces the most consistent high quality cannabis on a large scale. However, some of our flower may also be sourced from Colorado and Oklahoma, and possibly other states in the future. We are always looking for the best flower we can find!
